Volunteer at Brook Lane

Volunteers enhance the quality of clinical and support services provided at Brook Lane. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities, some with direct client contact and others with minimal or no contact with clients. Volunteers may share their talents in the following ways:

  • Tutoring
  • Arts, crafts, reading, music and/or sports with our students or residents
  • Gardening
  • Clerical duties
  • Interpreting for the hearing impaired or those who do not speak English.
  • Classroom assistant
  • Library assistant
  • Fundraising
  • Event organization

Our volunteers go through an orientation process to increase their understanding of our work with those with emotional and/or behavioral challenges. Training times vary depending on the volunteer position. All volunteers who will have direct contact with clients must have a fingerprint background check (both state and federal), two tuberculosis skin tests done 30 days apart, and sign a confidentiality agreement. Fingerprinting and tuberculosis tests are done at Brook Lane’s expense.

You can make a difference by filling out the volunteer application. We will call you to set up an interview time. Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Brook Lane.

Intern at Brook Lane

An internship will allow you to integrate classroom theory with real life experiences, demonstrate the relevance of your course work, and motivate you to learn more. It will allow you to explore a potential career field, and develop career-related skills and abilities while observing professional people in the workplace.

Brook Lane accepts applications from undergraduate and graduate students. Opportunities for internships may be available in the following:
