Meet Christopher Wheatley, PMHNP
Chris Wheatley is a certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner working with patients in Brook Lane’s child and adolescent partial hospitalization program, residents at Stone Bridge Home and young clients in outpatient services on our main campus. Chris received his Master of Science in nursing degree from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. He joined Brook Lane’s medical staff in February 2019 and quickly became an integral part of patient care.
When asked about his favorite part of the job, Chris says, “Without question working with children and their families. A close second would be the nature of my work, which includes understanding psychodynamics while incorporating psychopharmacology to best suit the needs of the individual.”
Prior to coming to Brook Lane, Chris worked for mental health providers in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC areas. He also formally worked at Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute, Children’s National Medical Center and Dominion Hospital in Fall Church, VA.
Chris was born on the west coast of Florida, near Tampa, but spent most of his childhood, from the age of three, in Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC. In June of 2019, he married his wife Brittany. Their family includes a very boisterous 62 pound golden doodle name Pickett. They recently built a new home in Maryland.
Chris is a self-disclosed movie buff. He likes listening to jazz music and hiking. He is also an amateur photographer. He enjoys traveling and has been all over the United States. His latest hiking trip was to Kauai, Hawaii.
