Meet Debi Coleman
The role of the medical secretary at Brook Lane is vital to a smooth running office. Individuals on the front line of any organization juggle many tasks that require numerous talents. Debi Coleman does just that for our Frederick outpatient office. As a medical secretary, Debi welcomes our clients, assists them with necessary paperwork, schedules appointments and acts as the liaison between the client and provider. She is also responsible for answering phone calls, processing insurance authorizations, transmitting medical records to other providers and, on occasion, acting as ad hoc technical support (Debi enjoys problem solving, particularly with technological problems.)
Debi Coleman has been with Brook Lane for nearly 3 years. She was interested in working for Brook Lane because of her empathy for people who are struggling with mental health issues and the opportunity to provide attention and kindness to help lighten their burdens. She enjoys providing exceptional customer service and strives to help create a safe, hope-filled environment for clients who are experiencing a variety of mental health challenges. Being a part of this journey brings her great joy.
Prior to joining the Brook Lane team, Debi worked in customer service at a veterinary hospital. She says the commonalities between animal and human medical care is amazing. Previously, she worked with her husband, Jonathan, for several years while they managed and grew a successful lawn care company. She found working with her husband to be the most rewarding part of this endeavor. After several years, they both decided to leave the stress of being business owners and move on to new adventures.
Debi and Jonathan have been married for 13 years. She is his biggest fan. She says her husband keeps their lives interesting and ever changing by continually expanding their array of interests, ranging from indoor gardening to sky diving to computer programming. Their family includes several pups, an 11 year-old Westie/Lab mix named Kiwi, a high-maintenance, purebred 10 year-old Havanese, named Coconut, and a lazy 7 year-old Brussels Griffon/Yorkshire Terrier mix, named Fig.
Debi was born and raised in Cape Cod, MA and currently lives in Middletown, MD. Her interests include studying the Bible, which she finds to be a daily source of guidance and hope. She is very active in the Living Hope Community Church in Frederick. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry from Gordon College and has a certificate in Biblical Counseling, Christian Counseling and Education Foundation (CCEF). She also enjoys gardening, playing with her pups and vacationing. Her favorite vacation experience was a trip to the jungles of Honduras and Belize, zip lining through the rain forest, listening to Howler monkeys’ morning wake-up calls and breathing in the abundance of life.
