Distressed ChildThis Zoom seminar will focus on assessment and intervention strategies for the prevention of suicide among youth who have experienced significant mental health challenges and psychosis. Discussion will include disorders that increase the risk of suicide, protective and risk factors for suicide and the challenges of assessing individuals with acute mental health disorders for the risk of suicide. Participants will learn effective screening tools for a variety of settings and intervention strategies for prevention of suicide in youth.

Featuring:

Pamela Rakhshan Rouhakhtar, PhD is a clinical psychologist and Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She is the co-director of the Clinical High-Risk for Psychosis program at the Strive for Wellness clinic, and a co-investigator of the NIH funded multi-site study “Youth Nominated Support Team for Suicidal Adolescents at Clinical High Risk for Psychosis.”

Keira O’Donovan, MA is a clinical psychology doctoral student at the University of Massachusetts Boston and a predoctoral psychology resident and incoming research fellow in the Department of Psychiatry, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
