1-Hour: Monthly Micro Course: The Biological Nature of Trauma and Addiction

Objectives:
- Discuss the relationship between trauma and substance abuse
- Understand the physiological underpinnings and causes of addiction and substance abuse as it relates to trauma informed care
- Provide strategies for both trauma and addiction for children ages 5-18.
Description: At the conclusion of this course, attendees will better understand the relationship between trauma and addiction from a brain-based perspective. This course will focus on addiction treatment from a trauma informed care perspective.
Featuring: Jason, Mathison, PsyD, NCSP, ABSNP, is a licensed psychologist and certified school neuropsychologist with over 20 years of experience working with children and adolescents in Maryland and Virginia. He is the owner of Psychoeducational Consultants, where he provides neuropsychological testing and executive functioning coaching. Dr. Mathison has published works on executive functioning and served on an expert panel at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). He has also worked as a school psychologist for Prince George’s County Public Schools and earned his doctorate in school psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
