Coping with Feelings of Guilt and Shame

Guilt and shame are complex emotions that affect many aspects of a person’s life. Guilt is your conscience letting you know you’ve let yourself down in some way. Guilt can help you grow and learn from your mistakes. Shame is a destructive emotion. It convinces a person that they are bad, weak or unlovable and makes an individual less able to improve their behavior. It can make you feel hopeless and stuck, rather than affirming you are capable of growth.
